Rhema and Profiles International
An interview with MD of Profiles International in Great Britain, Richard Marsh
Richard Marsh is certain that the link between Profiles and Rhema Group will greatly add value to any sizeable organisation’s people development strategy. The combination of Profiles’ exceptional assessment solutions, and delivery of these solutions by a people development expert of Rhema’s experience and reputation, will ensure unrivalled value for client companies.
Marsh asserts that Profiles is “the user-friendly face of assessment” – a view frequently reinforced by feedback from those who have used these particular psychometric assessments and the personal training and development plans which are created from the assessments.
“We do not just provide off-the-shelf tests. Our approach is holistic, and psychometric tests are only a part of the whole”, says Marsh. “Companies and individuals benefit hugely from the wide range of data and management information Profiles provides – for recruitment, but also way beyond that for the career development of their most valuable assets. ”
Profiles was founded in 1991, and is now operating in 80 countries, with assessments meticulously rendered in national languages. Validation of Profiles products is central to maintaining its leading position in a market with a variety of offerings. “Because of the way that our technology is structured we can run validation studies of around 200,000 people world wide as well as smaller studies in individual territories,” Marsh says. “We can handle very big amounts of data. We can say with certainty that our product works in a very localised or specific population – even down to within a company culture.”
Adopting best, rather than common, practice, Profiles has chosen to meet and exceed the toughest standards in the world which can be found in this field which are those of the US Department of Labor. And to reinforce the certainties which such an approach offers clients, Profiles publishes its validation data.

“Psychometrics used badly can be anything from irrelevant to damaging,” Marsh stresses. “It is very important for Profiles to have business partners like Rhema who can apply these assessment tools properly for their own clients, can train managers to use them properly, and then can add value by bringing in customised training programmes behind assessment results.” His illustration is that if a company spends £10,000 to gain Rhema Group’s expertise using Profiles tools, 90% of that will be on the added value of training based on the initial Profiles report.

Marsh summarises the business benefits: “A Profiles and Rhema alliance offers measurable performance improvement, reduced costs for recruitment and elimination of wasted money on poorly-targeted training, retention of top performers and their talent, creation of top-line growth plus improved customer relationships and retention.”
That’s an impressive list.

Rhema Group and
Intellego Systems
Every company needs to give time and effort to developing its people. Alongside standard training programmes aimed at developing broad communication and business skills, there is usually also a need to deliver a whole range of specialist and company-specific learning and training. Fulfilling all these training requirements through external or internal instructor-led training can conflict with the need to minimise the amount of time staff and management have to spend away from their work.

The image above shows the Rapid Builder software
The demand is for an optimum combination of instructor led training and the effective use of training content in proprietary, company-owned e-learning programmes which can be delivered to individuals at their work stations.
Rhema and Intellego have set up a strategic alliance to offer exactly that.
“We see the growing importance of E-learning, particularly in the training strategies of corporate entities,” says Rhema MD Jeremy Francis, “yet we also know how vital it is to have that built on customised, expertly-delivered instructor-led training. The Rhema-Intellego alliance is the clearest evidence of our understanding of what companies want today. And we can deliver enormous savings on training budgets, which fulfils a parallel business objective.”
Both recognise that as the use of E-learning in blended learning solutions progresses, there is a clear trend towards demand for robust, highly adaptable and user-friendly enabling technologies. And the forward-thinking demand is for systems which help companies to create their own proprietary E-learning content as well as delivering customised professional packages .
Edward Arnett is MD of the rapidly-growing Intellego an AIM listed support services business: “Our offer is about enabling subject matter experts, complementing business skills training, such as that offered by Rhema. We offer the best programming-free authoring tools for E-learning (they are menu-led so there is no need for PC programming knowledge).
“Proprietary content can’t be bought off the shelf because it is a company’s own knowledge. We can put the right technologies into their own hands to gain all the benefits of E-learning easily and quickly.”
Two of Intellego’s key enabling technologies are; RapidBuilder a software simulation and multi-media content authoring tool and RapidExam, a powerful assessment tool for knowledge benchmarking.
In alliance, Rhema and Intellego can each offer their own clients a customised package in which either supplier can take the lead, as appropriate. Tailored instructor-led training and learning courses created by Rhema can be delivered in shorter classroom sessions because they are supported by Intellego’s E-learning tools: these can adapt and reinforce Rhema course content but can be enhanced and continually developed by the client to serve their own very specific needs. The E-learning programmes developed in this way are the intellectual property of the client company and can be re-used an unlimited number of times, at no further cost.
